That's just peachy

That’s just peachy is in reference to the peach fruit which is sweet. This is said when something is excellent or as good as it can be, however, it’s sometimes said sarcastically to imply the opposite.
When I was growing up, there was an old peach tree on the back side of our farm which would bear small but excellent peaches. I remember climbing the tree so I could get to the best ones. There were a lot of peach orchards near us because they thrived in that soil.
We have lived in three different states with each having different soil. One was very sandy, another was clay and one had rich dirt. With each region, different grasses were planted because each grass performed best in that particular climate. Knowing which grass to plant was the difference between having a lush lawn or one filled with weeds.
Isaiah, which means “The Lord saves”, is one of the greatest writing prophets. He uses literary techniques to describe a life planted in the Lord and the contrast when living for ourselves. Isaiah 5:1 says, “I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.” Then goes on to say in verse 2, “Then he looked for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only bad fruit.” He’s acknowledging God’s blessing on his people but realizes the repercussions when sin is allowed to seep into our lives. When we produce “good fruit” we’re manifesting God’s glory.
Regardless of where we’re planted, when God is the center of our life, we’ll flourish because we’re rooted in His Word. We can know with confidence everything will be just peachy when we rely on the Lord, even during the dry spells. Isaiah 27:6 reminds us to be steadfast saying, “In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.”
