“As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will appear to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”
Hosea 6:3

SPRING FEVER
Spring fever is the infectious excitement or restlessness towards warmer weather after a cold winter. This actually originates from an illness called scurvy, which is caused by dietary deficiencies during winter months.
Once again, we’ve had to spring our clocks forward signifying Spring is around the corner. I just got used to the last time change and now it’s time to do it again. The older I get, the faster these changes seem to roll round. For some of us, change is challenging. Mama found changing the time so annoying, she refused to adjust the clock in her car and griped about it for months.
The warmer temperatures actually rise our serotonin levels, giving us a boost of energy. We suddenly want to clean after hibernating over the dreary months of winter and the increasing daylight stimulates our enthusiasm and productivity.
Spring is my favorite season because it issues in Easter. This is a time to reflect on our blessings and really think about the meaning of the cross. Watching the brown grasses turn green, daffodils erupt from the soil, and buds form from lifeless branches, reminds me of the new life God gave us through Jesus.
I don’t think we spend a lot of time pondering over the physical pain Jesus actually endured for each of us. Most churches have an empty cross on display made of beautifully polished wood, but in reality, it should be rugged, splintered, and stained with blood. The God of our universe, sent His only Son to endure humiliation before dying an unimaginable death on a cross, a cross He had to carry. I think the visual of Jesus dragging His own cross, reveals just how much He loves us. He showed us how He’s willing to carry our burdens when we let Him.
