No use crying over spilled milk

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;” Psalm 34:15

No use crying over spilled milk is a proverbial saying which means not to dwell on what has happened and can’t be changed.

We’ve all been there. The full glass of milk is spilt during dinner, running through the crack of the table and down the pedestal going absolutely everywhere. The tranquility of the meal has been abruptly disturbed and chaos pursues. I remember rushing to get towels to soak up the mess, consciously refraining from being upset with the clumsy child as tears were running down their face. I learned early on to never give my children more milk than I was willing to clean up because accidents happen.

That’s what Mom’s do. We clean up the messes of life without giving it much thought. We go out of our way to make sure everyone is taken care of, it’s a part of our DNA. We’re usually the last one to sit down at the table, the last to go out the door, and the last to go to bed at night because we’re the caretakers.

Those days pass quickly but our children will forever leave their footprint on our heart. Grandma always said, “Right now they’re stepping on your toes, but give ‘em time and they’ll be stomping on your heart.” I really didn’t understand what she meant until I had children of my own, but I certainly do now. We love our children and want them to thrive to be the best they can be. I love 3 John 1:4, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
