“Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2

Let the chips fall where they may means allowing things to happen naturally without interference. This is an old idiom originating from woodcutting in reference to the one chopping the wood should focus on the log and not worry about where the wood chips fly.
Have you ever been in charge of something and it’s your responsibility to make sure everything is done correctly? I have been made the executor of my parents will and there are many extenuating circumstances making this way more difficult than it should be. I have to obtain a lawyer because I no longer live in North Carolina which removes the burden from me.
Just as the lawyer has given me peace about what needs to be done, the word of God gives me peace about the decisions being made. God’s word wipes out all the “noise” of the world. I just love the fact that whatever we’re dealing with in our life, we can seek out wisdom, comfort, and direction from the Lord. Proverbs 19:20 says, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.” When we seek Godly advice it’s up to us to implement it and we can do so with confidence.
Regardless of what happens I know the Lord is in control. James 3:17 says, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” When we seek Godly wisdom we’ll exhibit the characteristics of Jesus regardless of where the chips fall.
