It's all over but the crying

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;” Psalm 34:15

It’s all over but the crying means something has come to an end and nothing more can be done. This became a popular phrase after the Ink Spots recorded a song by the same name in the late forty’s.
Have you ever been working so diligently on a project you lose track of time? The days seems to evaporate before your very eyes. This is what has happened in my efforts to get this manuscript to the publisher. Just when I think I’ve completed everything, I’ve found out I overlooked a vital piece of information causing me more work.
Setbacks and errors can lead to frustration and make us want to throw in the towel or they can propel us forward more determined than ever. I personally like a challenge. It causes me to dig deeper and forge ahead to complete what I’ve initially set out to accomplish.
I like to imagine what it would have been like to be in some of the Bible stories we have all come to know and love. I think of Noah, I can’t even imagine the sense of accomplishment he must have had when he stood back and looked at the finished ark. The weight of the world must have fallen off his shoulders when he drove in that last nail.
So, when we’re working on something and we keep hitting roadblocks, we just have to persevere. We can’t be defeated and get discouraged, because look how long it took Noah to complete the assignment God gave him. If you do the calculations based on how old he was when he had children and the age he was when the flood came, he could have taken as long as eighty years to build the ark.
Well, I am happy to say it’s all over but the crying because I have finally submitted my completed manuscript to my publisher in hopes an actual book will sit on my coffee table one day. This has been a labor of love and has stretched my knowledge to the limits, especially when it comes to my computer skills. This has been an exciting journey and I hope these idioms turned into devotions bless others as much as they have blessed me.
