Hit the nail on the head

“This man was handed over to you by God’s set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.” Acts 2:23

Hit the nail on the head means a statement is absolutely correct or a situation has been executed perfectly. This is a metaphoric saying literally coming from a hammer striking a nail.
Nothing gives me more gratification than completing a project perfectly. Several years ago I wanted to put an intricate grape stencil up in my dining room. As I started my first panel, I couldn’t figure out if it would match when I got to the end. My friend said, “Just start and when you get to the end you can always get creative and blend the pattern.” She was exactly right. I was allowing perfection to get in the way of my progress.
Years ago God set into motion a perfect plan to reunite us into a relationship with Him. Not only was Jesus the example of how we are to live but his purpose was to atone for our sins.
1 Peter 2 :24 says, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”
Scriptures tell us Jesus was God but he was also man, a man that could feel, smell, and bleed just like the rest of us. I’m sure the final week of his life was full of trepidation because he knew how this would end.
I read somewhere it wasn’t the nails that kept Christ on the cross but his undying love for us. That’s a pretty powerful statement when you really stop and think about it, especially since today is Good Friday. He physically died for me and you.
Our Heavenly Father implemented the perfect plan to save us by using wicked men to hit the nails into the hands and feet of Jesus. The good news is the story doesn’t end there, Sunday is coming where God’s perfect plan will be complete.
