Don't put all your eggs in one basket

I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” Lamentations 3:24

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket is said to someone willing to risk all their resources on one venture or their success is dependent on one person.
Most of us have a nest egg put away for a rainy day in case of an emergency. Some of us have planned for natural disasters such as earthquakes. I know my husband is all about having a diversified portfolio to help prepare for financial uncertainties. I even had a neighbor who was afraid when the year was turning 2000 so she stored sacks of grains, beans, and non-perishable items in her basement. All she ended up with was a bug infestation.
We all want to be prepared for the unknowns that life may bring but we can’t allow fear to paralyze us. Our faith has to be greater. The Lord gives us direction and peace when we seek his will to guide us in the decisions we make regarding our future.
Ecclesiastes 11:2 says, “Give portions to seven, yes to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.” In other words, give graciously while you have plenty because if disaster strikes, you may have to rely on the generosity of others.
There are a lot of variables out there but the Lord is the one true source of our security. Natural disasters will happen, stocks will fall, and bugs will invade but God is constant.
When we put all our eggs in His basket, we’re able to endure anything.
