Cross that bridge when we get to it

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

When you say, "I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it", you’re reminding yourself not to worry about the things in the future. Focus on today’s issues rather than fretting about tomorrow.

I know someone who’s going through a very difficult time right now. They are spiritually depleted, emotionally drained, and physically worn out. Their life choices have created a domino effect of legal issues which have developed into quiet the conundrum. The what-ifs could leave them absolutely paralyzed if they don't take it one day at a time.

The book of Philippians was written by Paul while imprisoned, and he even had anxiety issues (2:28). He shares he has concerns for his future and the gospel ministry. This reveals the human nature of man and how vulnerable we all are.

Throughout scripture, words of encouragement and hope are written for us when we are anxious. When we put our trust in the Lord rather than ourselves, we have our strength renewed. John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Jesus is saying to his followers that he’s giving them the gift of inner peace when they surrender their life to Him. This peace is not temporary and not dependent on the outside circumstances existing around us, but permanent.

The good news is no matter what comes our way, we can have assurance nothing is too big for God. None of us know what our futures hold but we can trust God to carry us across those difficult bridges regardless of how long they are.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
