Peace of mind

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

Isaiah 26:3

Peace of mind means to be in a state of tranquility because you are free from worry. This originates from Isaiah 26:3 where he is praising God for deliverance.

I think we all strive for peace in our hearts and when our home is filled with love, peace is always found. One of the definitions of peace is the freedom from disturbance.

This week we light the fourth candle on the advent wreath, representing peace, which is also known as the “Angel’s Candle”. We’re reminded of the message the angels proclaimed to the shepherds so long ago saying in Luke 2:14, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

In Isaiah 9:6, Jesus is prophesied saying, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah is declaring the One who will restore peace to the earth is coming.

The moment we become a believer, we receive the Holy Spirit which embeds in our spirit to give us peace. Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.” This is a peace which brings us inner tranquility beyond the capacity of our human minds to comprehend. This is a gift we receive when we accept the greatest gift ever given to us ... Jesus.

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
