From pillar to post

“Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God.” Revelation 3:12

From pillar to post means to be searching for something and you have looked everywhere without success.

Have you ever been in a room surrounded with people yet you feel as though you’re the only one there. I have and it’s awkward. Everyone is engaged in a conversation with someone else and you just kinda drift from cluster to cluster. We all want to be greeted like Norm on the show “Cheers” where everyone shouts your name when you enter the room.

We are all born with a craving to have friendships. Friends bring out the best of us and a true friend gently calls out our imperfections in order for us to grow into a better person. In the quest to find friendships, we sometimes compromise our integrity in order to please others so they will accept us.

We should seek our validation from the Lord first and allow Him to fill the void in our hearts and then seek friendships with others. When this happens, relationships happen organically rather than forced. When we are equipped with the Holy Spirit, we no longer have to have the approval from others because we know with confidence who we are.

The good news is we don’t have to search from pillar to post to find acceptance when we become dependent on the Lord. He will empower us to migrate to the kinds of friends He wants us to have and we won’t feel awkward going into a crowded room ever again whether everyone knows our name or not.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
