Can't see for looking

“On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

John 14:20

Can’t see for looking is a funny way to say you can’t find what you’re searching for when it’s right in front of you. This is a common thing to say when trying to find a certain tool or something specific in the refrigerator.

Years ago, my girlfriend and I went to the mall and when we came out my car had been stolen. Now this was a 1970 Volkswagen bright yellow bug so who would steal it? While waiting for the police to arrive, we searched the parking lot one more time and noticed a white car had the exact same dent in its bumper as mine. The lights in the parking lot made my car look white and it had been sitting there the entire time.

If we’re honest, we’ve all searched for something we can’t find while it was right in front of us. I know before I became a believer in Jesus, I was searching for something but really didn’t understand what I was looking for until I found it. I had a restless spirit causing me to be discontent which was suddenly replaced with a sense of peace and tranquility.

The Pharisee’s were notoriously following Jesus around while He was ministering to the people in hopes of catching Him make a misstep. The idea of this carpenter’s son being the Messiah was something they refused to see and He was right in front of their faces. Their hearts were turned harder and harder with each denial.

We’re all created with a void and we get to choose what we fill it with. God is waiting for us to make Him Lord of our lives so He’ll fill the void so foster a loving relationship with Jesus.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kim Johnson.  I am a Wife, Mom, Sister, Friend, and Grandmother.  I have lived in Virginia for the past 25 years but my roots are from North Carolina where I grew up hearing idioms.  My children said I should write these things down so I took it to a deeper level and connected them to scripture to show how God has continually revealed himself in my life.

You may be wondering where "Blooming With Jesus"  came from. My inspiration came from my grandma who loved me unconditionally and spoke these idioms to me throughout my life. Through these I have been able to blossom in my faith and grow closer to God each day. My hope is as you read these you too will be able to grow in your faith.
